Prep/Line Cook

MillCross Coffee Bar & Kitchen is looking for a Part-Time experienced Line Cook and/or Prep to join our team. We are a specialty, multi-roaster coffee company based in Culver City that features daily brunch. We are looking for some friendly, enthusiastic cooks and prep with quick hands and an eye for detail.  Our ethos is simple: good coffee, good food, positive work environment. 

Responsibilities:

 

·      Prepare and cook a variety of breakfast/brunch items, such as egg dishes, waffles, elaborate toasts, sandwiches, salads and soups on various kitchen equipment.

·     Assumes 100% responsibility for the quality of products served.

·      Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.

·      Preps, stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period. 

·      Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.

·      Maintain an immaculately clean work station while executing service with speed and precision. 

·      Follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes.

·      Follow sanitation guidelines set forth by Health Department

·      Handles, stores and rotates all products properly.

      Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assists            others in closing the kitchen. 

·      Performs other related duties as assigned by the Chef or manager-on-duty. 

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all the menu offerings

  

 Qualifications:


·      1 year of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.

 ·     Must be available Wednesdays and Sundays

·      Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen, and dining room personnel.

·      ServSafe California Food Handlers Card required.

·      Is highly organized and efficient

·      Has reliable transportation to work and is able to arrive on time.

Expectations and Requirements:

·      Work schedule may vary between early morning, weekends and holidays. 

·      Shifts will be typically between 4 -8 hours per shift and you may at times be asked to work overtime.

·      Always act in a professional manner that represents the cafe, the owners, and staff. 

·      Demonstrate teamwork in all areas of the restaurant.

·      Work with a positive attitude in all types of situations.

·      Follow safety and sanitation rules and laws at all times.

·      Welcome and accept feedback and coaching from the management team in order to maintain and grow as an employee.

·      Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 20 - 50 pounds.

·      Has basic knowledge of a touchscreen POS System

·      Equipment Maintenance

·      Vegan / Vegetarian Cooking

·      Be able to work in a standing position for up to 8 hours.
