About the department
The Department of Dietetics and Nutrition is responsible for providing comprehensive dietetic services to patients of Townsville University Hospital and other local health services, including Palm Island, North Ward renal satellite unit and surrounding areas of North Queensland through outreach renal services. An outreach service is also supplied to Charters Towers, including The Charters Towers Hospital, Eventide Nursing Home and Charters Towers Rehabilitation Unit.
The department consists of 22.5 full‑time equivalent dietitians and 2.5 full‑time equivalent nutrition assistants, with professional leadership across the Health and Health Service to support service delivery and development.
About the opportunity
Assist in the provision of optimal nutritional care for patients by supporting dietetic staff within the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Contribute to patient care by providing administrative and clinical assistance to allied health professionals in their day‑to‑day clinical duties. Work under the supervision and direction of an Allied Health Professional and undertake only those clinical tasks delegated to you.
Role requirements
- A Certificate IV – Allied Health Assistant or equivalent is required. Evidence of any qualifications must be provided to the appropriate supervisor or manager prior to commencement of duties.
- This role is a Vaccine Preventable Disease risk position (Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis).
