Role Overview
The Digital Innovation Lead is a strategic business development role within the Cloud Innovation Program team. This role accelerates the implementation of replicable public sector cloud successes by organising Innovation Challenges—rapid product development lifecycle opportunities that solve significant community and domain problems through information technology. The Lead acts as an organiser, community builder, product manager, innovation coach, and spokesperson for engagement, working hand‑in‑hand with an end customer sponsor to communicate the value of Innovation Challenge participation.
Key Responsibilities
- INSPIRE – Thought Leadership & Community Building
Identify and prioritise Innovation Challenges with the sponsor, design communications and outreach, lead innovation workshops (e.g., Working Backwards, PRFAQ), promote the digital transformation agenda, represent the customer’s voice, and maintain a public profile as a thought leader. - TRANSLATE – Strategic Engagement & Solution Design
Facilitate stakeholder communication using the Working Backwards approach, design and run workshop sessions, define stakeholder communities, build communication plans, and position challenges as strategic business development campaigns. - ENABLE – Execution & Scalable Impact
Iterate solutions with participants, document successes and failures, lead a small AWS team, adapt cooperatively across sectors, build replicable frameworks, and measure & report on outcomes to expand global impact.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in product or program management, product marketing, business development, or technology.
- Experience launching new products.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Customer‑facing leadership experience.
- Analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering exceptional service.
- Bachelor’s degree or recognized AWS certification such as AWS Solutions Architect.
- Expertise in Lean Startup, Design Thinking, User Experience, Product Management, or Experimentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Founder or executive experience in digital marketing or related practice leadership.
- Knowledge of innovation and product management approaches, preferably Amazon‑specific.
- Deep understanding of AWS services in state/local government, education, and health.
- Proven commitment to work with public sector mission owners to deliver effective solutions.
- Background in business development, market analysis, and value proposition development for public sector RFPs/RFTs.
- Experience as a marketing manager for an IT solution provider.
- Experience as an innovation coach and workshop leader.
