Iona College is seeking an experienced and passionate leader to join the College as Head of Diverse Learning on a fixed-term, full-time basis across Term 3 and Term 4, 2026 with potential to extend.
As the Head of Diverse Learning, you will be responsible for fostering excellence in inclusive education, ensuring students with diverse learning needs are engaged, supported and empowered to achieve their full potential. You will build staff capability to design and implement differentiated curriculum programs that achieve strong outcomes for every learner.
Your Role:
As the Head of Diverse Learning, you will:
- Lead and mentor the Diverse Learning faculty and team across Years 5-12
- Manage staffing allocations, classroom observation and feedback, and resources
- Lead processes relating to documentation, compliance, reporting, NCCD, ACARA and funding/disability verification
- Manage faculty budgeting and operational priorities
- Strengthen staff capability in differentiated and inclusive teaching practices
- Support teachers to develop and implement individual student learning plans, modified curriculum, and assessment adjustments
- Coordinate support for students with diverse learning needs, including those requiring special provisions, intervention and extension programs.
- Collaborate with academic, pastoral, counselling, and year‑level teams to support student wellbeing and learning holistically
- Use data such as NAPLAN, ACER, assessments, and enrolment information to identify needs and guide targeted intervention
- Build strong partnerships with parents, carers, external agencies and specialists
- Promote a supportive and engaging learning environment for all students
About You:
You have a genuine passion and commitment to working with students with learning needs. Ideally, you will have:
- Previous leadership experience with a focus on inclusive education, learning support and diverse learning (desirable)
- Strong knowledge of Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) processes and requirements
- Strong knowledge of differentiation, curriculum adjustment and intervention planning
- Experience leading and mentoring staff to improve teaching practice
- In‑depth knowledge of student support processes, compliance requirements and evidence‑based planning
- Experience driving change in safe, wellbeing education, and teaching and performance
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Patience, empathy and the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, families and the Iona community
- Confidentiality and ethical practice – you manage student information confidentially and sensitively
- Proficiency in the use of information and communication technologies
- Current Queensland Teachers Registration (QCT)
