About the role

As a Systems Engineer at Babcock, you'll play a key role in supporting the design, delivery, acceptance and sustainment of the Enhanced Defence High Frequency Communications System. Working across the engineering lifecycle, you'll apply systems engineering principles to investigate technical issues, develop practical solutions and contribute to the delivery of safe, effective and compliant outcomes for complex Defence capability programs.

You will contribute to technical investigations, engineering documentation, risk assessments and formal customer reviews, while ensuring activities are delivered to time, cost and quality expectations. Alongside developing your own expertise, you'll also support knowledge sharing and mentoring across the wider engineering team, helping drive continuous improvement and operational capability across the business.

About you

You are a motivated Systems Engineer with a strong foundation in engineering principles and a genuine interest in solving complex technical challenges. Comfortable working across multidisciplinary environments, you can analyse problems, apply sound engineering judgement and communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Success in this position will come from your ability to manage your own workload, contribute positively within a collaborative team and maintain a strong focus on safety, compliance and continuous improvement.

Experience working within regulated or Defence environments will be highly regarded, along with an understanding of engineering standards, technical governance and product lifecycle support.

What you will bring

  • Relevant experience in relatable technical/engineering roles.
  • An understanding of applicable engineering toolsets e.g. PLM or MRP systems, design, simulation and analysis software.
  • Exposure and experience in Systems Engineering Lifecycle.
  • Desirable systems engineering experience in a RF, HF and/or communications relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience of requirements management and use of associated toolsets e.g. IBM DOORS.
  • Proficient in using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and other project management and documentation software.
  • Experience in In-service support, interface definition, subsystem design, installation supervision, set to work, and commissioning.
