Overview
The Cloud Engineer role will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the branch’s cloud environment, ensuring that systems and networks operate securely, reliably, effectively and efficiently.

Initial contract duration: 12 months
Number of extensions: 2
Experience level: Senior - EL1 equivalent
Location of work: QLD, WA, ACT, VIC, NSW, NT, SA, TAS
Working arrangements: Hybrid; the client requires attendance at the office for 2 days per week.
Security clearance: Must be an Australian Citizen able to obtain Baseline clearance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Cloud infrastructure: Design, deploy and maintain cloud infrastructure to support the technology solution, ensuring scalability, reliability, and availability. Use Azure services and DevOps for production deployments following best practices.
- Ongoing maintenance: Monitor and maintain system uptime by implementing high‑availability configurations and responding promptly to incidents. Work with developers to integrate additional telemetry where needed.
- Drive improvements and automation: Identify opportunities for infrastructure improvement and develop initiatives that enhance efficiency, reliability, performance or reduce cost. Implement automation scripts and tools to streamline repetitive tasks.
- Working documentation: Author, contribute to, and share current‑state documentation with relevant teams and stakeholders, including configuration details and operational procedures.
- Troubleshooting: Provide production support by troubleshooting and resolving issues, setting up monitoring and alerting systems, incident response, and root cause analysis.
- Quality assurance: Ensure the overall quality of technical deliverables, establishing and implementing quality assurance processes and standards. Apply appropriate change management processes to minimise risks to ongoing operations and meet organisational objectives.
Requirements
- Minimum five years’ experience in cloud infrastructure and administration supporting critical environments; tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Development or a related field.
- Experience with automated deployment pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployment.
- Deep understanding of cloud networking concepts, VPCs, subnetting, VPNs and similar technologies.
