Gold Buyers Central - General Accountant Opportunity!

Gold Buyers Central is a 100% Australian-owned business and one of the nation's leading gold and silver recyclers. With stores located in major shopping centres across Australia, we provide customers with a safe, convenient, and trusted place to exchange unwanted jewellery for cash on the spot.

We are now looking for a General Accountant who is proactive, detail-oriented, and ready to take a hands-on role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This is not just a back-office role, your contribution will play a key part in the success and growth of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily bank, credit card accounts reconciliations, and inventory ledger reconciliations.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and contribute to the development of budgets and accounting policies.
  • Monitor precious metal market prices (gold & silver) and incorporate price movements into input cost analysis, forecasting and margin management to support pricing and profitability decisions.
  • Analyse income, expenses and operating costs to provide insights for management decisions.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable and liaise with suppliers and creditors to resolve issues
  • Prepare and present monthly and annual financial statements to directors and management.
  • Support audit processes and conduct financial investigations where necessary
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including preparation and lodgement of BAS, Payroll Tax, superannuation and GST.
  • Process fortnightly payroll, including commissions and prepare payroll reconciliations and reports.
  • Perform month-end close activities, including accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.

Skill Level and Experience Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting
  • Approximately 12 months of relevant accounting experience
  • Proficiency in XERO, any inventory management software (Cin7/VEND) and Microsoft Office.
  • Must have knowledge of the precious metal industry operations including buying and selling gold and other materials from the public in compliance with Federal Government legislation.
  • Time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
  • Works independently as well as in a team.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills.
  • Highly attentive to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability in problem-solving and process improvements.
  • Ability to travel.
