FPGA Design Engineer (VHDL) – Aviation Systems

Location: Antwerp

Employment: Full time (Permanent)

The Role:

As an FPGA Design Engineer, you’ll contribute to the development of high-performance communication and signal processing systems used in aviation applications. This includes working on complex data acquisition, transmission, and processing solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement FPGA subsystems using VHDL
  • Carry out simulation and verification activities (e.g. Questa, ModelSim)
  • Integrate FPGA modules into larger system architectures
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams
  • Support debugging and troubleshooting of FPGA designs
  • Document designs, processes, and test results
  • Contribute to technical discussions and industry knowledge sharing


What We’re Looking For:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong experience with VHDL and FPGA development
  • Solid understanding of digital logic, timing constraints & clock domains
  • Experience with Intel / Quartus toolchain
  • Exposure to digital communication systems or DSP is a plus
  • Knowledge of high-speed interfaces (Ethernet, SERDES) is beneficial
  • Familiarity with embedded processors (e.g. ARM) is advantageous
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
  • Team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach
