Adecco is currently hiring an experienced Professional Engineer for a Lead Engineer – Mine & Tailings (M&T) position.
You will provides end-to-end engineering leadership across project stages (e.g. DBM, FEED, Detailed Engineering). This role is a technical integrator within Mine and Tailings Projects, ensuring designs are safe, compliant, executable, constructible, operable, maintainable, and aligned with lifecycle value.

- Work Schedule: Mon- Fri, 8 hours a day, work in office
- Provide technical leadership and decision‑making support across all project phases.
- Develop and maintain the Engineering Management Plan (EMP).
- Coordinate engineering interfaces with Operations, Reliability, Geotech, Process, Maintenance, Construction, SCM, and Document Control.
- Oversee execution of studies, design reviews, and 3D model reviews.
- Drive technical readiness for all stage‑gate reviews.
- Ensure all engineering deliverables comply with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and authentication guidelines.
- Support squad checks, audits, peer reviews, cold‑eyes reviews, and readiness assessments.
- Ensure timely closure of NCRs, audit findings, and engineering quality gaps.
- Provide multi‑discipline integration for tailings pipelines, deposition systems, pump systems, water/tailing transfer, dykes, ponds, water management, and dewatering systems.
- Support construction, field engineering activities, and technical issue resolution.
- Lead Class of Plant assessments during DBM (Design Basis Memorandum).
- Lead Process Safety Plans, PSI, PHAs, and hazard reviews, ensuring all actions are incorporated and closed.
- Steward the Engineering Deliverables List, ensuring accurate issue status and approval.
- Manage TDNs, DCNs, and support FCNs.
- Oversee QA processes, ITP compliance, SQS activities, and vendor quality.
- Lead technical reviews for DBM, FEED, and Detailed Engineering.
- Lead 30/60/90% model reviews, constructability, and operability assessments.
- Support field engineering processes and manage field changes.
- Ensure ALIM compliance, metadata accuracy, and CER/BPR documentation requirements.
Qualification:
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with APEGA.
- 10+ years of engineering experience supporting mining, tailings, oil sands and heavy industrial projects.
- 5+ years of experience with demonstrated leadership on complex, multi‑discipline scopes.
- Proven experience leading engineering scope across DBM (Design Basis Memorandum), FEED (Front‑End Engineering Design), and Detailed Engineering phases.
- Strong technical background in Mine & tailings management, including pipelines, deposition systems, pump systems, water/tailing transfer, dykes, ponds, water management, and dewatering systems.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive technical decisions, resolve issues, and steward deliverables through the full lifecycle.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with experience coordinating across internal teams, engineering service providers, and specialty contractors.
- Must be a current resident of Calgary, Alberta or willing to relocate.
