We currently have full‑time permanent opportunities for Electrical and Instrumentation Technicians wanting to upskill and obtain HVIA certification or HV Electricians / Industrial Electricians wanting to upskill and obtain Cert III Instrumentation. These roles are offered on site to join our high performing maintenance teams across our Boyne Smelter Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and replace electrical equipment.
  • Execute planned and unplanned breakdown maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot, calibrate, repair and service fixed plant electrical assets.
  • Work at heights activities.
  • Work autonomously, being reliable and positively contributing to the maintenance team, and understand the requirement to maintain assets in a safe and reliable condition.
  • Identify and implement improvement initiatives, which may involve working with many different disciplines within the organisation.
  • Promote and identify HSE opportunities to improve equipment, processes and behaviours.
  • Execute defined primary and secondary scopes from SAP (CMMS).

What You’ll Bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
  • Respect for others and an all‑inclusive mindset.
  • Valid C Class driver’s licence.
  • An Australian ‘A’ grade Electrical licence.
  • Instrumentation Certificate advantageous.
  • Working at Heights/EWP desirable.
  • Experience in planned maintenance including conveyors, PLC, instrumentation and other plant equipment.
  • Proven history of fault finding and repairs on various electrical equipment.
  • Proven maintenance experience working in heavy/industrial industry.

Where You’ll Be Working

Boyne Smelters Limited is Australia’s second‑largest aluminium smelter with a 1,000‑person strong workforce. Located approximately 20km south‑east of Gladstone at Boyne Island on the Central Queensland coast, BSL produces around 500,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum.

Activities at BSL include manufacturing carbon anodes in the carbon plant, aluminium production (smelting) in reduction lines, and casting of molten material into aluminium products ready to ship. The smelter is connected via a conveyor belt to the Queensland Alumina Limited refinery for the supply of alumina.
