Project Management Accountant
Join Nexon Asia Pacific as a Project Management Accountant in Sydney CBD. This key role ensures financial integrity across multiple projects.
Responsibilities
- Reconciling revenue, cost of goods sold and margins for multiple projects across the professional and advisory practices.
- Reconciling WIP and Time & Materials invoicing.
- End of month general journals and accounting adjustments.
- Working closely with GMs of various operational divisions to understand and provide insight to the status of customer projects. In particular, analyse project billings, revenue, and utilisation determining the impact on total project profitability versus budgeted outcomes and costs.
- Analysing and providing comments on variances for end of month performance reviews (vs actual, budget or forecast).
- Reconciling affected Balance Sheet accounts.
- Other ad hoc responsibilities, e.g. system enhancements and/or migration projects.
- Suggesting improvements in systems and processes.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support for decision‑making.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting regulations and standards.
Personal Attributes
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Intermediate to high level Excel skills in processing high volumes of data between subledger and main ledger systems.
- Ability to quickly learn and apply past experiences, knowledge and skills to this new position.
- Strong communication skills, growth mindset, a hands‑on positive attitude and a team player within the Finance and Operations teams.
Experience & Knowledge
- CA/CPA qualified accountant with solid understanding of revenue recognition accounting standards and principles.
- Ideally, sector‑specific experience in accounting for Revenue and COGS across Professional Services and Advisory.
- Establishing and monitoring controls in the customer projects processes.
- Experience with Finance ERP systems (ideally Business Central or similar) and demonstrated results in process improvement suggestions.
- Ideally knowledge in reviewing financial data for variances and reporting on performance in an FP&A context (including into tools such as PowerBI).
