The role

The Property Council of Australia is seeking a Policy Advisor to join our NSW team. In this pivotal role, you’ll develop and advocate policy positions that support a thriving property industry and deliver better outcomes for communities across NSW.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead policy development – craft strategic and operational policy positions with strong member input.
  • Influence decision‑makers – engage with State and local government to shape legislation and planning frameworks.
  • Prepare high‑impact submissions – deliver clear, evidence‑based recommendations to government.
  • Build relationships that matter – connect with politicians, advisors, and key stakeholders to advance industry priorities.
  • Represent the industry – attend meetings and forums alongside senior leaders.
  • Support events and engagement – identify topics and speakers, prepare materials, and assist with delivery.
  • Drive research and insights – undertake original research to strengthen policy positions and inform publications.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in policy development and/or advocacy.
  • Strong understanding of the political process and strategic planning challenges in NSW.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with precision.
  • A collaborative team player who can also work independently.
  • (Desirable) Tertiary qualifications in politics, law, planning, economics, or communications.
