Field Service Engineer – GE HealthCare
Join GE HealthCare as a Field Service Engineer and develop strong relationships with internal and external customers. Drive customer satisfaction through service excellence while installing and maintaining electronic medical equipment across imaging modalities.
Essential Responsibilities
- Install equipment with high quality, professionalism and attention to detail in accordance with company standards.
- Perform preventive maintenance and make corrective repair calls in a timely manner, meeting customer contract requirements.
- Ensure timely completion of Field Modification Instructions (FMIs) and notify senior staff when response time objectives cannot be met.
- Own the problem from start to finish, keeping the customer, Service Delivery Manager and Senior Field Engineer informed of progress.
- Keep management and commercial account managers fully aware of developments in the installed base.
- Report regularly to management in accordance with reporting guidelines and procedures.
- Complete additional assignments and projects as directed and follow the alert procedure for system downtime.
- Attend technical and general skills development training courses and keep abreast of product information.
- Work within the defined responsibilities as documented in GE Healthcare Spirit and Letter Commitment Form to ensure compliance.
- Accurately complete and lodge all service documentation in a timely manner.
- Maintain all company property (tools, test equipment, motor vehicle) in optimum condition and calibrate test tools according to schedule requirements.
- Optimize parts usage and ordering from both company and customer perspectives.
Quality Specific Goals
- Comply with GEHC Quality Manual, QS, policy and applicable laws and regulations.
- Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within defined deadlines.
- Identify and report any customer or personal quality or compliance concerns immediately to the Quality Organization.
- Ensure timely job dispatch closure and send customer reports as required.
- Finish FMIs within prescribed timeframe and participate in continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Mechanical/Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technician or equivalent electrical trade.
- Relevant licenses required by Federal or State Legislation (e.g., Radiation, Electrical Licenses) and Work Cards (e.g., White Card).
- Strong focus on medical IT systems; skills in TCP/IP, WIFI and medical networks preferred.
Desired Characteristics
- Technical capability to work on diagnostic imaging equipment such as CT, Nuclear Medicine, X‑ray and MRI.
- Rapid learning of new technologies and commitment to continuous learning and skill expansion.
- Experience interpreting schematic diagrams and following technical reference manuals for repair and maintenance.
- Commitment to strict workplace safety standards and guidelines.
- Solid fault‑finding, problem‑solving and computer networking skills.
- Effective time management, planning and prioritizing skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer‑relationship management abilities.
- Excellent communication of complex technical issues in an “easy‑to‑understand” manner.
- Team‑work orientation and experience working with internal and external customers to achieve solution‑focused outcomes.
- High work standards, quality orientation and strong work ethic.
- Essential ability to travel for business or training. Ability to work overtime as required.
