The Precious Metals / FX Trader is responsible for executing trades, managing risk positions, and optimizing profitability within the firm’s trading book across spot, forwards, and derivatives in precious metals and foreign exchange markets. The role requires strong market knowledge, analytical ability, and adherence to compliance and risk management frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Execute trades in precious metals (gold and silver) and FX pairs.
- Manage position exposures and ensure adherence to risk limits and company policies.
- Manage broker-dealer inventory positions within approved limits.
- Monitor and interpret economic indicators, geopolitical events, and market trends impacting currency and metals prices.
- Develop and execute quantitative trading strategies in FX markets.
- Analyse trading performance and make adjustments for strategy optimisation.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly trading performance reports and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
- Handling client communications, working with them to resolve trading issues, pricing problems, connectivity and IT issues and resolving any other client queries.
- Communicate and collaborate with team members to share insights and contribute to success.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in developing and executing quantitative trading strategies in Precious Metals and FX markets.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make quick decisions in high-pressure environments.
- Deep understanding of precious metals, FX Spot, FX Forwards, and FX NDF/derivative structures.
- Quantitative and analytical proficiency with deep statistical understanding.
- Excellent communication skills, especially for client interaction and market commentary.
