Thread Recruitment is partnering with Essier
Essier, a premium, design-led bamboo decking system backed by global brand Straightcurve, is launching and scaling a new division in the Australian building and landscaping market.
Essier decking is a high-performance, carbon-negative, modular system designed to replace traditional timber and composite decks: faster to install, lower maintenance, and just naturally good.
They’re looking for a Sales & Business Development Manager to lead Essier’s market entry and early growth: someone who can design the sales engine, secure the first commercial wins, and help shape a brand that stands for something bigger.
About the Role
You’ll be responsible for launching Essier into the market, validating product‑market fit, and creating the foundations for national scale.
This is a build‑from‑zero, get‑your‑hands‑dirty, commercial leadership role where you’ll be both strategic and hands‑on and comfortable designing processes and getting out in front of customers.
What You’ll Be Doing
Market Entry & Growth
- Develop and execute Essier’s go‑to‑market strategy
- Identify priority customer segments and define clear entry pathways
Sales Strategy & Execution
- Own the full sales cycle: outreach → demo → quote → negotiation → close → handover
- Monitor conversion rates, margin health, objections, and deal velocity – and adjust accordingly
Partner & Channel Development
- Identify, onboard, and support early installers, distributors, and dealer partners
- Equip partners with sales tools, demo materials, and product knowledge
Operational & Sales Infrastructure
- Build Essier’s sales engine from the ground up, such as CRM stages, workflows, templates, SOPs, and reporting
Brand & Market Intelligence
- Represent Essier at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings
- Feed structured market insights back to HQ, such as pricing sensitivity, competitor activity, install feedback
Who This Role Is For
- You’re an experienced Sales or Business Development Manager with a background in building materials, construction, landscaping, or adjacent industries
- You’ve launched products, opened new markets, or built sales functions from scratch
- You’re commercially sharp, process‑driven, and comfortable working in early‑stage environments
- You build trust quickly and sell through credibility, value, and long‑term thinking
- You’re motivated by ownership, impact, and growth, and leaving things better than how you found it
