Opportunity for an experienced Legal Counsel to join a fast-growing fintech delivering innovative consumer finance and payments solutions. You will bring proven expertise in financial services law and regulation, working closely with product, technology, and commercial teams to provide clear, commercially-focused legal advice in a dynamic and highly regulated environment.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll partner directly with senior stakeholders to navigate complex legal and regulatory frameworks while enabling the delivery of new products and services to market.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and technology agreements, including service contracts, partnerships, and licensing arrangements.
• Provide expert advice on regulatory obligations, including consumer credit, payments, data privacy, AML/CTF, IP, and competition and consumer laws.
• Support product development and go-to-market initiatives by ensuring compliance from inception through launch.
• Advise on governance policies, compliance programs, and internal procedures to meet ASIC and other regulatory requirements.
• Work with external counsel and regulatory bodies on complex or high-value matters.
• Deliver training and guidance to business teams on legal and compliance matters.

Skills & Experience:

• 3–6 years’ PQE in-house or in private practice, with demonstrated experience in fintech, payments, or consumer finance.
• Strong understanding of Australian financial services law and regulation, including consumer credit, data privacy, and AML/CTF frameworks.
• Proven commercial contract drafting and negotiation skills.
• Ability to balance legal risk with strategic and operational priorities.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
