SUMMARY: The Operations Manager is responsible for the production aspects of a large scale laundry facility. This includes but is not limited to meeting customer requirements, maintaining operational efficiencies, assembling and directing an operations management staff and ensuring integration of the engineering, distribution, service and office departments while maintaining a safe and professional work environment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The daily operations of an industrial laundry facility in the processing and delivery of healthcare linens. 
    • Manages the development and training of the staff in efficiently and safely producing a high quality linen product.
  • Financial management of the costs and expenses in all operational disciplines of the plant.  The ability to comprehend and assist in the management of the operating budget.
    •  Direct responsibility for cost control and knowledge of vendor contracts.
    • Overseas the daily monitoring of payroll and labor costs.
  • Direct liaison with the Chief Engineer/Engineering Manager to assure the safe operation and upkeep of all production equipment.
  • Direct liaison with Office Manager to insure all HR compliance issues such as training, regulatory compliance, staffing, payroll and benefit administrations for the staff is scheduled and completed within policy requirements.
    •  Assures all new hires and current employees receive regulatory training.
  • Assists in production and communication of weekly reporting:
    • Includes but not limited to: Daily/Weekly Operating Report, Key Performance Indicators, Payroll and Human Resource Functions.
  • The ability to read, interpret and comprehend a P&L financial statement.
  • Co-Chairperson and/or Chairs the plant safety committee and oversees the regulatory compliance for all required industry and regulatory agencies. 
    • Knowledge of HLAC, OSHA and JACHAO requirements.
  • Assists the General Manager in the handling of Joint Commission, Linen Committee and operating committees within the facility and client hospitals.
    •  May be required to chair a committee at the client’s request.
  • The ability to attend, participate and document laundry surveys for potential Crothall Healthcare – Laundry Division clients. 
    • This knowledge of production costing and laundry design & development will allow for exposure of and experience gathering to numerous operation methods.
  • Assists the General Manager with annual performance appraisals of staff as well as coaching /counseling/corrective action for associate improvement needs.
  • Assists the General Manager in forecasting for capital requests/expenditures.
    •  Assists in the installation and operation of all new equipment.
    •  Assists the Chief Engineer/Engineering Manager in reviewing new equipment and productivity improvement issues.
  • Development of Action Plans and Personal Development Plans (PDP) for current supervisory team to assist in development of their growth and success.
    •  Develop a succession plan for his/her position to provide for business growth and continuance of company management needs. Assist in successful development of our corporate culture and direct reports so when new and additional job opportunities present themselves, the company has resources for success.
  • Oversees the efficiency management of required utilities, supplies, linen purchases, and warehouse/inventory issues for successful cost control within the facility.

EDUCATION:

BS/BA in Business Management or its equivalent preferred.

  A minimum of 2 to 5 years combined operations and/or management experience required, depending on the tier or grade level of the specific assignment.

  Bilingual oral/written communication skills are a plus for this job description.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
