Faculty Position in Industrial Hygiene

The Department of Environmental Health at The University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine invites applications for a faculty position in Industrial Hygiene at the level of Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor.  Academic rank and appointment, tenure track or tenure will be commensurate with candidates experience and qualifications.

UC’s Department of Environmental Health has a rich history and tradition in Industrial Hygiene.  The department consistently ranks among the best in the nation with a research oriented and interactive faculty.  The appointee can anticipate a highly competitive start-up package and the opportunity to become a member of several state-of-the-art research centers, including a NIOSH-funded Education and Research Center (ERC), and NIEHS-funded: Center for Environmental Genetics; Gene-Environment Training Grant; and Pediatric Epidemiology Training Grant. The Division of Environmental and Occupational Hygiene provides training for both master’s and doctoral level students, and is fully accredited by ABET. Industrial Hygiene faculty members in the department have established research in exposure assessment and control, ergonomics, aerosol physics, bioaerosols, biological monitoring and toxicology.  This faculty has worked collaboratively with faculty in the other five divisions: Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Bioinformatics; Environmental Genetics and Molecular Toxicology, Public Health and Occupational Medicine.   Interactions with researchers at Cincinnati Children’s and VA Hospitals, as well as NIOSH and USEPA which both have major laboratory facilities nearby are common and encouraged.

Applicants must hold a PhD or other doctorate in industrial hygiene or relevant science or engineering; a CIH or eligibility for CIH certification within one year is also required. Successful candidates will have publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals, demonstrated teaching ability, as well as outstanding research productivity as demonstrated by success in securing federal and/or foundation funding. The successful applicant will be expected to teach graduate courses in their area of expertise, direct graduate thesis research, and develop or sustain a robust extramurally-funded research program.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.  Interested applicants should forward complete curriculum vitae, a brief outline of current research, a copy of three recent publications and the names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses of three references to:
