Software Engineer II

 

About the role:

  • Be a member of a team that designs, implements, and tests firmware for implantable medical devices
  • Be responsible for translating cutting-edge research algorithms into implementations suitable for low-power and low-latency embedded firmware systems.
  • Utilize a variety of new and proven technologies to deliver life-changing diagnostics and therapies to patients and clinicians in support of BSC’s mission.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Implementing implantable medical device firmware in a robust and easy-to-test manner.
  • Collaborating with firmware, systems, hardware, and software engineers to optimize solutions across the entire system
  • Developing and documenting new requirements and designs using existing firmware engineering methods and technologies.
  • Working effectively within a Lean/Agile team
  • Analyzing activities and methodologies with peers and cross-functional groups to continuously improve quality, workflow, and work processes.

 

What we’re looking for:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent engineering field: Bachelors with 2-5 years of experience Or Masters with 0-2 years of experience
  • Excellent core firmware engineering and full software life cycle skills
  • Excellent analytical, debugging, and communication skills
  • Experience with programming languages like C/C++ and C#

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Development experience with Linux, embedded C, and Windows
  • Experience with industry standards IEC 62304 and Bluetooth
  • Experience with medical device electronics and systems – preferably in Cardiac Rhythm Management
  • Strong communications and time management abilities
  • Experience with cybersecurity including securing communication with other devices
  • Experience with safety critical systems and static analysis tools
