Learning Support Coordinator

Learning Support Coordinator (State Title: CB70 Student Services Program Coordinator II) The Comprehensive Studies Department is seeking a collaborative, energetic, and innovative individual to serve as a student advocate through developmental advising, counseling students for proper program fit, and liaising between the Department, the Director of Advising and Academic Support Network, Success Coaches, Student Support and Engagement, Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction, and other campus partners to promote overall student success. The Learning Support Coordinator is responsible for training, staff development, resource development, and other initiatives to ensure adequate support for developmental and underprepared students within the department and across campus. The Learning Support Coordinator plays a critical role in creating an environment conducive to achieving the Department mission: helping students successfully transition from where they are to where they want to be. Job Purpose:
This position will serve as a student advocate through developmental advising, counseling students for proper program fit, and liaising between the Department, the Director of Advising and Academic Support Network, Success Coaches, SSE, and Tutoring and SI, and other campus partners to promote overall student success. Job Functions:
1. Liaison with Success Coaches, SSE, and Tutoring and SI, and other campus partners to ensure thorough understanding of course offering and student support initiatives offered through Comprehensive Studies Collaborating with Director of Advising and Academic Support for advisor training and resources to improve advising and support of students in developmental courses. 35% 2. Research learning strategies and best practices for supporting developmental and other under resourced students and develop and facilitate training for department faculty and staff and partners across campus. Support development needs for academic divisions. 20% 3. Provide direct support to students in assigned caseload and students identified as high risk to maximize student achievement and persistence. 15% 4. Assess and evaluate training and learning support strategies and support assessment for policies and procedures within the department and across campus that impact the experience of students in developmental courses and other under-resourced students. 20% 5. Hires, coordinates, and supervises part-time learning support staff, including the student retention specialist. Provides direction, support, and training for learning support staff and student retention specialist, establishing schedules, and monitoring and reviewing performance. 10% Anticipated Hiring Range:  $32,838- $46,799 Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor's Degree and two years' student services experience. Preferred Qualifications:Master's Degree. Experience working with underprepared and under-resourced students. Experience working in a two-year college. Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues/students and to convey knowledge in a form that students can understand. Adaptability to students' needs and to different situations. Ability and desire to motivate students. Ability to work in teams and independently.
