IT Data Analyst Intern

The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

Scope of Position:

  • Research, compile and analyze process performance data.
  • Participate in process improvement teams supporting measurements and data analysis needs.
  • Prepare data summaries and presentations for team and leadership.


  • Query and compile process data
  • Basic data calculations and analysis
  • Assist in preparing data summaries and reports
  • Participate in Performance Excellence team activities (DMAIC, PQA, LEAN)
  • Participate and assist in preparing quality training activities
  • Support development of process documentation

Education and Experience:

  • Enrolled in Engineering or Technical program
  • Course work completed to include: Statistics
  • GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Relevant data analysis and team participation experience a plus

Required Skills:

  • Working knowledge of common MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Good math skills: algebra, formulas, problem solving
  • Basic statistical operations: Normal Distribution, Variance, Comparative Analysis
  • Good written and verbal skills
  • Strong work ethic and results oriented

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in a team environment, getting results through others
  • Familiar with data mining techniques, data base searches, etc
  • Willing to learn new software

Basic Work Hours: 40hrs/week; 8am-5pm
