ACEREZ, a partnership of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, is appointed network operator by EnergyCo to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission network. The ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV) will design and build the Central-West Orana REZ transmission project.
The project will build new high‑capacity transmission lines, energy hubs and supporting infrastructure to transfer power generated by solar and wind projects to electricity consumers. The new infrastructure is expected to be operational by 2028 and will initially unlock up to 4.5 gigawatts of new network capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all quality and environmental aspects of the project are addressed to maintain effective operation and project delivery.
- Monitors and controls subcontractors’ performance and ensures the quality and standard of workmanship is in accordance with the specifications.
- Ensures that project team completes all outstanding defects as a matter of priority.
- Ensures implementation of project quality plan.
- Supervise and coordinate resource allocation, encouraging effective teamwork and fostering a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives.
- Maintain project schedule by monitoring progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
- Prepare project status reports and change orders.
- Manage and maintain effective liaison and communication with all levels of internal and external shareholders on all matters relating to the construction activities.
- Participate in client/contractor meetings and resolve client/engineering and project management issues.
- Lead, motivate, and mentor site personnel to foster positive team dynamics, staff morale and work outcomes.
- Work closely and ensure site engineers are supported and perform as required.
- Interact with both on‑site personnel and other parties to create a positive work environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, electrical, mechanical, structural engineering, or a related engineering field.
- 5+ years post‑graduate experience ideally working on large‑scale renewable energy transmission lines, substations or infrastructure style projects.
- Strong problem‑solving / analytical skills.
- Competent in planning, cost control and organising work schedules.
- Ensuring all relevant regulatory requirements are satisfied.
- Working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementation of same.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated experience collaborating across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Clear communication – verbal and written.
- High attention to detail.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Package.
Location & Work Arrangement
Project Engineer positions start in our project office in Sydney CBD, with occasional site visits. Once the project is fully operational, it will transition to DIDO – 14 days onsite in camp‑style accommodation and 7 days offsite, on a roster‑based arrangement out of the Central West Orana Region.
