We are a team of engineers, designers, and researchers who work on Big Data technology at SAP. Our goal is to build the bridge between SAP’s best-in-class enterprise software and modern Big Data technology. At the heart of this mission is SAP Data Hub ( YouTube Channel ), a young product that allows to build and execute data pipelines between different components such as SAP applications, SAP HANA, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, Apache Hadoop, Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Machine Learning Libraries and many more. SAP Data Hub enables our customers to connect all their components regardless if they are deployed on premise or in the cloud, if they are open-source software and commercial solutions or if they are application servers, database systems, file storage systems, software libraries etc.

You are

An energetic and motivated full-stack engineer ( ), who is keen to expand your knowledge and skills and express it in code! You are comfortable in shipping code in a modern object-oriented language, you are familiar with database systems and you have experience with modern UI technologies.

Your Role and Responsibilities

You develop backend code for our Data Hub application, you discuss requirements with our product management team and technical requirements with our backend engineers. You know how to program HTML5, but you are also confident to discuss the design of backend APIs consumed by you. You enjoy working closely together with one of our main architects on the project.

  • Responsible for designing, drafting, implementing and testing the backend services and user interaction design
  • Provide needed tooling for deploying your features
  • Work with continuous integration tools & testing
  • Interact with Product Owners, stakeholders and colleagues (located globally) on interaction and visual designs
  • Collaborate with a team of developers (located globally) to implement the web-based user interface
  • Work on prototyping new ideas

Education and Qualifications

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, ideally Computer Science Degree with 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Expertise in one object-oriented language such as JavaScript, JAVA or Python
  • Expertise in UI technologies such as HTML5, CSS4, JQuery, etc.
  • Expert in at least one modern UI framework such as React, AngularJS, Polymer
  • Familiar with web pages rendering performance concept, shadow DOM, virtual DOM, etc.
  • Familiar with data processing tools such as relational DBMS/SQL, Apache Hadoop or Key-Value stores
  • Contribution to open source development
  • Experience with CI tools such as Jenkins
  • Portfolio of completed UI projects
  • Must be able to work onsite in Palo Alto, CA, local candidates preferred
