The Opportunity:
Canfor is currently looking for a strong leader with proven forestry experience to join our team as a temporary contract seasonal Forestry – Field Operations Cruising Supervisor

The Role:

In this role, the Forestry - Field Operations Cruising Supervisor will be instrumental in planning field and office activities, while managing relationships with internal staff and external Consultants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct both field and office activities which relate to preworks, layout, cruising and final field packages in a safe and productive manner.
  • Oversee the companies cruising program, including contract management, cruise plan development, check cruise responsibilities, cruise data review and submissions to the government of check cruise requests.
  • Assist in the management of Canfor’s Sustainable Forest Management Plan and Forest Operations Schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with operational plans, company policy and legal requirements.
  • Work and form positive relationships with Internal Customers, Team members, External Customers, First Nations, Government Agencies, the Public and other Stakeholders.
  • Achieve key performance measures by applying the principles of performance management.
  • Participating in Continuous Improvement initiatives and other team projects as requested.

 

The Candidate:

  • University Degree or Technical Diploma with a minimum of 3 years forestry experience.
  • Excellent leadership, communication & project management skills, with the ability to work within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of applicable B.C. legislation and policies.
  • Proficient in using a computer & related software and forestry applications.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
