The Senior Financial Analyst is a member of the US Media a $2.5B P&L within Nielsen. This position reports to the VP, Finance and is responsible for overall financial planning & analysis, management reporting, and monthly revenue close activities for the Visual IQ business segment. The US Media business is a fast-paced, team oriented environment and requires strong critical thinking and excellent communication to effectively partner with finance and commercial stakeholders across various levels in the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities include:

 

  • Build, lead and manage the annual operating budget
  • Serve as a partner to functional budget owners communicating their financial performance by developing appropriate tools and reports.
  • Drive bi-weekly revenue forecasting process and identify risks and opportunities to plan.
  • Provide comprehensive monthly variance and trend analyses – actual vs. budget, forecast, and prior year with a focus on identifying key drivers and making actionable recommendations
  • Prepare and submit month close journal entries including accruals, deferrals, and inter-business transfers as required
  • Develop and implement creative solutions to drive simplification of financial processes, improve quality, timeliness and control
  • Support preparation of presentations to executive management
  • Leverage large amounts of data to solve business issues and support the sales team with business intelligence
  • Performs various ad-hoc financial analyses for management as required

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 3-5 years’ experience in financial planning & analysis and/or revenue management experience
  • Excellent communication and ability to work in a team  
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to solve business challenges leveraging large amounts of data  
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting principles and regulations
  • Advanced Excel and Google Sheets proficiency
  • High emotional intelligence – a problem solver and team player
  • Knowledge of SAP ERP system and Business Warehouse software preferred
  • Self-motivated with ability to define, structure and prioritize work for self and flexibility and capability to change priorities when circumstances dictate
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, Master’s degree a plus
