IT - ERP/SAP Systems Analyst Sr Job


From a staff position, and under very limited supervision, functions as a senior member of one or more multi-disciplinary teams with complex assignments in Enterprise-wide SAP Business Information Technologies.  Independently designs, develops, enhances, and tests complete business solutions for complex business requirements using ABAP and various other tools in support of enterprise-wide business operations.  Capable of serving as liaison to vendor suppliers of application software, services and consulting.  Coordinates complex projects.  Takes initiative and exercises independent judgment to resolve urgent problems.  Acts with broad authority when necessary to resolve emergencies. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values. 



Education/Formal Training

Work Experience




Master’s Degree (MBA or MS) in Business, Computer Science or a related field.

Must have at least  four (4) years of computer programming, Information Technology project management or other similar experience, general business experience (ABAP) or clinical knowledge.  Strong working experience in SAP. 









Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science or related field.

Plus six (6) or more years of applicable IT management experience, applicable business or clinical knowledge.



  •      Demonstrates expert analytical skills and extensive business knowledge with expertise in one or more critical business areas, such as SAP Financial, Materials, Human Resources or other business or technical modules.   
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  •    Ability to understand technical manuals, software specifications, hardware principals of operations, and systems software operations.
  •    Ability to relate to other members of the organization.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • From a senior perspective, identifies and plans for current and future enterprise requirements.  Analyzes complex business and technical problems.  Proposes state of the art SAP and other cost-effective business and technical solutions.  Recommends innovative techniques, procedures, and applications to meet enterprise needs. 
  • Designs, develops, configures, tests and documents complex standard and custom batch and dialog application software (or directs these activities when necessary), that integrates, extends or enhances SAP functionality.  Enhances, maintains and upgrades SAP software by completing the more complex configuration or ABAP modifications or other supporting changes usually required, and preparing or updating appropriate documentation. 
  • Pro-actively reviews, recommends and implements SAP authorization procedures and techniques, other data security, integrity, backup and recovery procedures for the protection of business systems.  Provides follow-up on implemented procedures. 
  • Stays current on all emerging SAP and other information technology relevant to assigned systems.  Maintains expert information technology status on the business areas supported. 
  • Leads and participates in formal and informal study sessions, researches technical manuals and professional publications.  Maintains competence in current SAP and related information technology.  
  • Responds on a 7/24 on-call basis to application and Customer problems; ensures that any problem within his/her ability to correct is addressed in a timely and professional manner.  Taking a senior role where appropriate, coordinates and directs inside and outside resources as necessary to resolve problems.   
  • Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.

Physical Requirements

  • Subject to call back at all times.  Must provide own transportation.  Ability to travel to any area of the organization, both local and remote as needed.
  •      Subject to standard office working conditions with intermittent exposure to noisy computer equipment.
  •      Required to sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to understand complex verbal and written communications, and respond verbally or in writing as appropriate. Typical mediums of     communication include face-to-face dialog, telephone, memos, and electronic mail.
  • Ability to interpret equipment status indicators to determine appropriate operating condition.  Indicators may include visual and/or auditory techniques or cues.
  • Ability to read and understand on-line help, technical manuals and other documentation to determine correct action, safety precautions, and other conditions of proper hardware and software operation.
  • Ability to work varying hours due to the accessibility of individuals or equipment involved in different projects, the need to minimize enterprise downtime or user interruption, or to recover from hardware or software failures.
  •      Will occasionally experience stressful working conditions due to tight project schedules and hardware or software problems.
  •      Ability to occasionally lift and/or move equipment up to 25 pounds without assistance.  Must occasionally lift and/or move equipment up to 40 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to occasionally crouch, kneel, bend and/or crawl to access, inspect, connect, position or perform other operations on equipment.  Some locations, such as user or equipment locations, may present very close quarters.
  • Ability to occasionally use small hand tools and be able to manipulate small equipment components such as screws, nuts, or other fastening devices as usually found on computer equipment.
  •     Subject to regular periods of repetitive hand motion in the operation of computer terminals and other equipment.
