Application Software Architect (2018)


Application Software Architect works closely with the Requirements team to identify high-level software capabilities and interfaces of Nexteer electric power steering.  The framework created by this individual flows down to component-level requirements and designs within the product development team.  Tasks will include:

  • Make complicated software function seem simple by breaking into smaller simple functions.
  • Define application-level software functions and components needed for a program.
  • Define interfaces and interactions of components along with task scheduling of software runables.
  • Work with controls engineers and software developers to create optimal solution.
  • Develop verification criteria for architecture elements.
  • Predict workload to support cost estimation of requirements changes.
  • Work with design and implementation engineers to resolve issues.
  • Generate software architecture views that give the developers and implementers an understanding of the system as it changes.
  • Maintain Application Software Architecture Process documents and actively participate in peer reviews and support requirement allocation and analysis.
Required Skills
  • 1+ years of experience working with control algorithm or software integration
  • Project and team leadership skills.
  • Excellent organization and documentation abilities.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Simulink, DaVinci Dev, DOORS, Enterprise Architect or Rhapsody.
  • Systems engineering, safety, or DFMEA background.
  • Understanding of ASPICE and ISO 26262 software architecture responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of Nexteer Automotive EPS or similar system.
Education / Experience

BS in Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering required.
