Position Overview

Under the direction of the Emergency Medical Services Manager, Workplace Health & Safety Officer, the Technician/Technician-Paramedic will assist in the daily operation of the Emergency Medical Services department. They are responsible for the overall care of patients within the Churchill area. Primary responsibilities relate to patient care, professional standards, treatment of the ill and injured, maintenance of equipment and vehicles as outlined in the ambulance act and all applicable regulations/policies within the Churchill Regional Health Authority. The Technician-Paramedic will also be responsible for various CRHA communications initiatives as well as staff training.

Experience

  • Previous experience in an Emergency Medical Services setting an asset.
  • Previous experience in training staff and community members an asset.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Successful completion of a recognized Primary Care Paramedic program.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Maintains Class 4 Manitoba Drivers License.
  • Ability to license and maintain license under Manitoba Health.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Demonstrates a calm and confident manner during emergency / difficult situations.
  • Maintains confidentiality with all information entrusted to the position.
  • Represents the CRHA in a professional and positive manner.

Physical Requirements

  • Possible heavy lifting at times.
  • Possible eye strain.
  • Possible posture and muscle injury/problem.
  • Possible contact with violent/aggressive clients.
  • Possible fatigue due to call backs.
