Purpose

 

Industrial Engineers take on an integral role at Boston Scientific by driving and implementing continuous improvement throughout the business. The department works cross-functionally across the plant to eliminate waste and improve product, material and information flow through production, new product development and business processes. 


Responsibilities

  • Facilitate production and business process kaizen events to improve quality, cost, delivery and safety
  • Develop and apply lean tools such as line balancing, mistake proofing, value stream mapping, pull systems, changeover reduction, statistical analysis, standard work, line flow design, strategic planning
  • Lead cross functional projects requiring problem solving or process improvement roadmaps and tools
  • Coordinate and lead facility layout and workstation design projects to reduce work content, improve line or facility flow and optimize space requirements for equipment and people
  • Apply knowledge of product design, production and business processes to proactively identify improvement opportunities across the value stream
  • Coach lean culture and operational excellence principles across site
  • Establish labor standards for product costing
  • Develop and facilitate Lean training programs for employees at all levels and departments
  • Continually build and apply technical knowledge discovered through benchmarking and continuing education opportunities
  • May supervisor co-ops and interns or mentor other team members

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or Engineering degree required
  • 2-5 years of experience
  • Demonstrated success with Lean tools, methodologies, and continuous improvement required
