Description Summary

This person provides support to the members of the Enterprise Events team (EET).

  

Strong interpersonal and project management skills are required to successfully manage and support multiple assignments while working closely with members of the EET.

  

Responsibilities may include planning and organizing activities; database and SharePoint management; support the planning of internal and external facing meetings and events that are strategically aligned to the company’s mission, vision and values and help further the company’s goals. The intern will work with the EET to collaborate with key business partners across the enterprise in the planning and execution of events, maintaining strong internal and external communications with event stakeholders and providing exceptional customer service.

  

The intern will actively participate in team meetings and work collaboratively with other team members to help achieve department objectives and successfully carry out projects.

  

This person would be employed for a three-month period in coordination with the company’s summer intern program. The intern works full-time, approximately 35-40 hours/week. The intern position reports into the Director of Internal Communications & Community Relations with day-to-day supervision and direction from the Corporate Events Manager.


Accountabilities


  1. Supports strategic events for all internal and external, B2B, and B2C events that are aligned with company and business segment goals, and ensure they are executed on-time, on-budget, meet or exceed stakeholder goals and expectations, and provide a premiere consumer I client experience.

  2. Executes event projects, to include building communication and project plans and timelines to ensure event planning is progressing on time and as expected. Makes modifications as needed.

  3. Along with EET, maintains a trusted and collaborative partnership with, and provides extra-mile customer service to, key internal and external stakeholders.

  4. Documents and continuously improve event related processes.

  5. Shared responsibility for booking and handling the company mascot at various summer events


Requirements


  • College student or recent college graduate

  • Communications or related major

  • 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills for working with Blue Cross employees at all levels, and community representatives

  • Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Excel, and a willingness to learn other software tools. Experience with other software programs a plus

  • Excellent planning/organizational and project management skills

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member

  • Work onsite during business hours

  • Access to a car for metro area travel
