Job Summary
We are seeking a psychologist for an integrated behavioral health position at the Cabarrus Family Medicine – Kannapolis practice.    The clinic is part of a family medicine residency and one of four sites with integrated behavioral health.  The provider will need to offer a broad range of services including: consultation, warm handoffs, brief testing/screenings, brief counseling, motivational interviewing, crisis management & triage, individual, family therapy.  Strong skills as a generalist across the lifespan apply.  Skills in working within a medical facility and with chronic disease states are preferred.  The candidate should be NC licensed, have strong interpersonal and computer skills, basic knowledge of psychopharmacology and a comfort in working in a fast-paced medical environment. Working in this environment, the provider can be expected to strive to improve patient access to behavioral healthcare and improve the flow of communication between behavioral health and medical providers.

Essential Functions

 

  • Provides behavioral health/psychological services to patients served by a residency-based family practice center and to local and regional patients.
  • Provides consultation to medical faculty regarding behavioral health and psychological issues as it relates to patient care.
  • Promptly maintains medical records for initial and follow-up contacts, clinical summaries, treatment recommendations and psychological screening reports.
  • Attends monthly medical provider meetings and promotes behavioral health topics, as needed
  • Participates in monthly Behavioral Health Division meetings and projects, as assigned

 

Physical Requirements
General clinic environment with limited exposure to pathogens, blood, and body fluids. Environment is climate-controlled with occasional exposure to inclement weather. Appropriate physical/mental health and stamina to tolerate rigors of sitting for prolonged periods as well as mental stress and prolonged work hours. 

Education, Experience and Certifications
Doctoral and/or Masters Degree in Psychology required. All appropriate licenses and certifications to provide clinical services. Psychologist with a minimum of two (2) years, full time clinical experience in behavioral medicine preferred. Experience in consulting with multidisciplinary teams of allied health care professionals. BLS HCP from AHA required.
