Based in Toronto, Ontario you will identify and analyze equipment defect patterns, and you will recommend program modifications to improve equipment performance.

In your role you will:

- Troubleshoot equipment failures (electrical and mechanical) and analyze defect patterns;
- Provide corrective actions for equipment failures and defects;
- Providing direction and technical support to management and unions employees with respect to the diagnosing and repair of Rail Vehicles and their components;
- Consult with Maintenance Manager and shop Supervisors to obtain failure details;
- Confirm investigative troubleshooting is completed for reported defects;
- Collaborate with suppliers to investigate material and parts related failures and defects;
- Develop and coordinate failures and defects explanation for customer and management;
- Create Failure Analysis Reports (FAR);
- Thorough investigation and detection of equipment defects to identify problem areas and recommend equipment service changes to reduce overall level of liquidated damages;
- Establish procedures and investigation check lists;
- Provide informal training and instructional sessions;
- Identify and request training as per employee training needs;
- Administrate collective agreement as required;
- Take on special projects as required.

Qualifications

As our ideal candidate:

- You have experience in repairing and troubleshooting on Locomotive (MP40, F59), DMU and Rail Cars (considered as an asset);
- You hold a post-secondary program in the field(s) of Electrical and Electronic or Mechanic, or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed to be equivalent;
- You own comprehensive knowledge of the latest diagnostic technologies and be able to diagnose and correct failures in any systems and components utilized on locomotive and rail cars;
- You own the ability to write routing reports and correspondence;
- You possess knowledge of preventative maintenance and work order scheduling techniques;
- You have knowledge of working procedures and techniques utilized in the rail way industry;
- You are able to work effectively with little or no supervision;
- You are able to communicate successfully with a variety of disciplines and levels, both internal and external staff;
- You own comprehensive knowledge of the latest diagnostic technologies and be able to diagnose and correct failures in any systems and components utilized on locomotive and rail cars;
- You have knowledge of MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), considered as an asset;
- You possess excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
