Intern--NAND Product Engineer

Micron is one of the largest memory companies in the world, and the largest in the US, with yearly revenue of > $20 billion.  Micron is at the leading edge of innovation in all the semiconductor memory technologies, including DRAM, 3D-NAND, 3DXP, and several other emerging memory technologies.  Micron leverages these memory technologies to develop memory products for a whole spectrum of applications, including SSDs, mobile devices, and automobiles.  This position at Micron is located in Folsom, California, at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.  Folsom is situated close to many great sites and attractions in the Northern California area.

We are looking to hire an intern engineer in our NAND product engineering team.  NAND product engineers at Micron Technology, Inc are responsible for defining, developing, validating, configuring, characterizing, and qualifying new non-volatile 3D-NAND flash memory products.  Product engineers also enable smooth startup into volume manufacturing. In the pre-Si phase, you will take part in running testmode and customer operation simulations to find/fix any issues in the design, determine preliminary configuration of the product to maximize performance, and create and maintain design documentation to prepare for Si.  In the post-Si phase, you will take part in debugging/solving any Si issues, analyze parametric/test/characterization data, determine configuration of product to maximize performance/yield/reliability, and debug/solve yield, quality and reliability failures. In this role, you will also have the opportunity to work with various engineering and manufacturing groups to troubleshoot, develop and validate device testing programs. Responsibilities of product engineers also include identifying and validating lab equipment needs and identifying and/or modifying tests for customer returns to meet specific product requirements. Product engineers also act as a product-specific point of contact working with Application Engineers, evaluating and providing feedback on data sheets. Product Engineers are the key interface between Research and Development, Manufacturing, Marketing, and Quality Assurance departments.

Responsibilities

- Take part in preparing for Si phase of 3D-NAND flash memory products thru running product simulations, finding/fixing any issues in the design, determining preliminary product configuration, and creating documentation
- Take part in debugging and configuring the 3D-NAND Si to ensure it meets Product Expectations.  This involves testing and characterizing the Si and looking for and fixing issues, configuring product to maximize program/erase/read performance, and debug yield and quality/reliability failures.
- Partner with other Engineering, Manufacturing and Marketing groups to develop and ship a successful product

Qualifications

- Effective communication skills in written and spoken English
- Good multitasking and organizational skills
- Ability to delegate tasks and set priorities in a team environment
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
