Product Stewardship Advisor


Job Role Summary

  • Monitor and interpret regulations related to Health & Environmental and Product Stewardship to understand the compliance requirements for EM products in 28 countries in South America, Central America and Caribbean. 
  • Provide support to Latin America Product Stewardship/Distributor contacts to comply with regulations impacting EM market
  • Communicate requirements and compliance plan recommendations to appropriate business contacts
  • Assist businesses implement and sustain compliance for EM products
  • Perform global impact assessments potentially impacting EM products 
  • Coordinate global translations using in-house and 3rd party translators in 55 global languages
  • Support advocacy activities with local authorities using trade associations in Latin America countries 
  • Lead particular projects related to PSRA performance 
  • Review internal and external driven changes to product formulation or product classification and determine if compliance plan needs to be modified.  Assist business to implement modifications
  • Respond to internal and external product stewardship questions to ensure proper use/disposal of EM products  
  • Assist in establishing a compliance basis for national legislation and EM Corp. Product Safety Policy related to the content and availability of Safety Data Sheets for marketed products:  Perform Local Editor/Business Document Approver (LE/BDA) role in PSIMS.

Characteristics and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge about Fuels, Lubricants & Chemicals 
  • Spanish & English language capability
  • Leadership and project management skills
  • Analytical skills, strong knowledge in chemistry and preferably basic knowledge in toxicology and ecotoxicology 
  • Ability to read and interpret government regulations
  • Strong communication, teamwork and influence skills
  • Knowledge of ExxonMobil products, manufacturing processes and supply chain

Expected Level of Proficiency

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering/Chemistry-related field from a recognized university
  • Minimum five years of working experience in the chemical industry, knowledge in product stewardship will be an advantage

Travel Expectation

  • One Annual Global Product Stewardship Meeting in Clinton, New Jersey (10 days)
  • Attending to a conference/meeting associated to Product Stewardship matters – one per year, usually in the US
  • Business Unit interfacing and handling of Product Stewardship interfaces with Strategic Alliance Partners in Latin America (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia) – 4 times per year
