Hatch is seeking a Civil Engineer to join its team in Salem, MA to assist with current and exciting future projects. The Salem team, formerly known as the Bioengineering Group, is a center of excellence focusing on green infrastructure design, sustainable site design, landscape restoration, and climate change preparedness. Our capability spans through the whole project lifecycle, comprising conceptual design, feasibility studies, basic and detailed engineering, construction and project management.

The Civil Engineer will provide engineering analysis, design and construction observation support for a wide range of local and national green infrastructure and site development projects. As Civil Engineer, you will incorporate design concepts into design development and work with the project team to produce construction documents.  You will interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate specific assignments pertaining to the overall project with fellow team members. You will perform work compliant with client contractual terms and local, state, and federal codes, ordinances, rules and/or regulations while ensuring completion on time and on budget.  You will coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and multi-disciplinary team members.   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform engineering planning, designing, permitting and overseeing construction on a variety of site development and green infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare grading and drainage plans, erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater calculations and modeling, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Analysis of survey reports, geotechnical reports, maps, drawings, aerial and other topographical or geologic data.
  • Identify and recommend technological, operational or engineering changes that will improve system reliability, regulatory compliance, and/or reduce cost.
  • Assist in development and implement quality assurance plan and field inspections.
  • Participate in preparing proposals.

Desired Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent degree).
  • E.I.T. Registration.
  • 2 - 5 years of previous design experience in civil, site, and stormwater management design.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD.
