    The VA Loma Linda Healthcare System is seeking Pulmonary/Critical Care specialist to join a team providing compassionate healthcare to our veterans. The VA Loma Linda has an active Pulmonary/Critical Care Section with a busy Sleep Center.

    Responsibilities

    The individual selected for this position will provide care for patients with sleep disorders, critical illness and respiratory diseases. The Loma Linda VA Medical Center is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art care for our beneficiaries. It is affiliated with Loma Linda University School of Medicine and is a "Dean's Committee" hospital. The applicant, who is eligible to apply for faculty appointment, will teach and supervise fellows, residents and medical students. Only applicants with a strong commitment to academic medicine will be considered and the individual selected for the position is expected to actively participate in research along with clinical and teaching responsibilities.

    Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Alternative work hours, if desired, may be discussed and pursued if leadership is in agreement.

    Qualifications
    Basic Requirements:
    • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
    • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
    • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
    • Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
    • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

    Preferred Experience: VA Loma Linda Healthcare System is seeking a board certified/board eligible Pulmonary/Critical Care specialist who is also BC/BE in Sleep Medicine.

    Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.

    Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting (45 lbs. and over); Moderate Carrying (15-44 lbs.); Straight Pulling, Pushing, reaching above shoulder, Walking (up to 3 hours); Standing (up to 3 hours); Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; Near vision correctable at 13" to 16"; Both eyes required; Depth perception; Ability to distinguish basic colors; Ability to distinguish shades of color; Hearing aid (permitted).
