Job Summary

Job Description:

The Category Business Program Manager, Produce position is an exciting opportunity to accelerate your career in Foodbuy.  In this role you will work alongside Account Managers and the Category Procurement team aligning customer needs with commercial opportunities in order to maximize the value of Foodbuy’s programs. 

There is plenty of new opportunity that we want you to be able to quickly uncover within a supportive, growth focused environment. You will work closely with other team members to further develop your category and customer expertise and broaden your knowledge of the business.

Success in this role will evolve from strong project management, hands-on commercial analysis, thoughtful relationship building with internal and external partners, and the ability to present your ideas to inspire action. 


What You’ll Do:

  • Identify cost reduction opportunities for Foodbuy’s Customers while increasing preferred supplier sales and Foodbuy revenue.
  • Present Foodbuy produce program to new potential clients and assist with any additional requests 
  • Work with Account Managers and gain customer commitment to convert to Foodbuy produce programs to achieve cost savings and margin improvements.
  • Develop a category strategy in collaboration with your Category Manager and Account Managers that delivers strong financial results.
  • Work closely with market basket team on data collections for price benchmarks 
  • Establish price benchmarks and negotiate with suppliers to ensure our programs are competitive for Customers in all business segments.
  • Manage term set subscriptions, deviated prices, price audits and NT files 
  • Handle Buysmart queries for members and work with suppliers on issue resolution
  • Support new program roll outs and conversion initiatives– including data analysis liaison with stakeholders, making pricing proposals, project management, preparation of sales materials, etc.
  • Work cross-functionally to manage the implementation of new contracts or program changes.
  • Act as lead Foodbuy resource for Customer requests related to your assigned categories.
  • Other special projects as assigned


What You’ll Need

  • 3+ years of category management, or customer account management experience is preferred. 
  • Bachelor’s degree is required - food Industry experience with focus on produce categories is advantageous.
  • A great attitude – flexibility, optimism, resourcefulness and transparency.
  • A proven track record of delivering results while being self-motivated in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to extract insights from complex data sets using advanced excel skills.
  • High attention to detail and exceptional work quality.
  • Strong negotiation experience achieving win-win solutions and mutual goals.
  • Excellent customer/client relationship building skills, both internally and externally.
  • Strong influencing skills to persuade people’s attitudes, behaviors, and decisions to desired results.
  • High proficiency level with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint required.
