Principal Systems Engineer - Cloud

Job Location: Tampa, FL


Role Value Proposition: 

This position in our Investments technology group will lead change by providing Investments with the platforms needed for transformation in the digital world. You are responsible for the management and maintenance of Investments systems and projects within a private and public hosted cloud provider’s environment, acting as the technical lead for a diverse team of technologists.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all technical aspects of environment design, implementation and monitoring.
  • Act as the technical lead for Investments IT’s hosted cloud infrastructure
  • Oversee capacity planning for Investment’s systems, and create automations to simplify processes and reduce complexities
  • Roadmap the future state of Investments IT’s Shared Services, ensuring that they are upgraded on a timely basis, and kept current with evolving technology trends.
  • Partner with Architecture and Development teams to deliver new on technology initiatives, such as Docker
  • Partner with our hosting provider to migrate on-premises workloads into Azure.
  • Provide technical guidance to hosting partners and environment support teams troubleshooting issues, and help drive those issues to resolution.
  • Participate on a wide variety of cloud engineering projects, including patch management, firewall management, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Provide support during evenings and weekends as necessary


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • 7+ years of infrastructure management, architectural design and Microsoft Technologies
  • Ability to project manage a wide variety of Cloud engineering projects, and multi-task in a challenging, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with a high level of analytical problem-solving abilities
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills – written, verbal and presentation
  • Knowledge of hardware virtualization technologies, such as VMWare, Vblocks and ESX
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft .Net Framework, SQL Server, Internet Information Services



  • Bachelor’s degree, or certifications in VMWare, Microsoft (ideally Azure) or similar related training
  • PowerShell Scripting
  • Understanding of Linux OS
  • Good understanding of Networking Technologies (Firewall, Big-IP F5 Load Balancing, IPAM)
  • Good understand of storage technology, tiers and configuration
  • Experience working with development teams in an Agile or Devops Environment
