Job Description

This clerkship opportunity provides a unique opportunity for an ambitious, driven law student to gain knowledge, experience, and skills required of an in-house counsel at a publicly traded corporation. The Corporate Legal intern will likely, among other things, work on special projects which will include conducting legal research, ensure compliance, and review and propose changes to contracts, legal documents, policies, and procedures in the different subject matter areas within the corporate legal department.  This clerkship is intended to last approximately three months during the Summer of 2019 depending on candidate availability.

  • Work closely with and provide confidential support to In-house Attorney staff on various legal matters including researching and reviewing applicable state and federal laws related to employment, compliance, and other corporate legal projects as assigned. 

  • Assist in preparing responses and gathering information related to litigation claims, charges, or third-party information requests such as subpoenas. 

  • Assist in or conduct legal research including but not limited to: locating relevant cases, statutes, regulations and codes applicable to the business. 

  • Prepare and/or review contract documents.  

  • Assist in drafting correspondence or responses from outside attorneys and others at the direction of In-House Attorney staff. 

  • Assist Intellectual Property team on projects related to patents and trademarks as assigned 




  • Must be a current 1L or 2L at an ABA accredited law school 

  • Ability to work independently  

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite 

  • Ability to take initiative and complete multiple projects simultaneously 

  • Ability to edit and proof legal documents 

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills to effectively interact and work with many different departments 

  • Ability to work independently and have a flexible attitude with respect to work assignments 

  • Great attention to detail 

  • Desire to learn and interest in working as an in-house attorney 



  • Previous work experience at a law firm or at a company during or prior to attending law school
