RF Microwave Engineer

Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role as an entry level/early career Microwave Engineer, you will participate in the development, analysis and evaluation of advanced space and ground-based microwave and millimeter-wave payload systems.  Your hardware development, test, and analysis efforts will impact high-technology RF areas such as GaN power devices and low-noise amplifiers, wideband microwave systems, advanced measurement techniques, and cubesat advanced payloads.  You will learn from the best in the field, and there will be opportunities to eventually lead projects in these areas

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Develop advanced amplifiers, transmitters and receivers, and perform microwave hardware-based laboratory measurements required to evaluate performance
  • Develop wideband microwave communication systems measurement techniques
  • Support development of cubesat payloads,
  • Build microwave/millimeter-wave emulator test beds
  • Perform circuit and full-wave simulations of microwave components, along with performance budgets for larger systems
  • Work as an individual or as a team member on analytical and experimental studies to solve microwave hardware anomalies
  • Document work products in briefings and/or technical reports to customers and colleagues
  • Interface with Aerospace internal and external customers, and external contractors for exchange of technical information
  • Candidate will work on a diverse set of projects. It is very important to be hands on, willing to learn and be comfortable in working in an environment with engineers of diverse backgrounds and expertise
  • High motivation with proficiency to learn and carry out tasks with guidance/leadership of experienced staff. 

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and 0 - 1 years of experience with an emphasis on microwave and/or millimeter-wave hardware, measurements, and analysis/simulation
  • Experience in ADS or AWR, HFSS or CST, MATLAB,
  • Experience base in microwave hardware, measurement technology, and analysis         
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance with an SSBI, which is issued by the U.S. government.  U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD degree in Electrical Engineering. 
  • Some experience with mixed signal components
  • Some experience with RF circuit layout and instrument control
