Purpose

 

This position works independently to assist R&D engineers, scientists, and/or teams in the development and analysis of products, materials, processes, or equipment. This position will also be responsible for performing package testing within the Packaging Engineering Lab, working with the Lab Coordinator and requesting engineer to provide quality testing in a timely manner.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Use internal resources and qualified external vendors to assist engineering teams to identify and obtain supplies and services.
  • Act as a resource to other employees.
  • Communicate project status to project teams.
  • Assist in various efforts/deliverables upon request
  • Work cooperatively with various BSC departments, divisions and corporate
  • Work with departmental engineers to provide physical package testing support for R&D projects related to Balloon, Stent, PVD, and Interventional Device products.
  • Work with departmental engineers to provide environmental, distribution simulation or accelerated aging support for R&D projects related to Balloon, Stent, PVD, and Interventional Device products.
  • Conduct and coordinate packaging testing for new product development and existing design improvements.  Document and distribute results as appropriate.
  • Work with outside test facilities to maximize quality, delivery, and lead times.
  • Effectively stock lab with necessary supplies to perform testing.
  • Coordinate and manage the archival of real time aging units.  Perform necessary testing as real time due dates arrive.

 

Requirements

  • Two-year Technical Degree (i.e., AA, Certificate)
  • 3-5 years experience in packaging, preferably in a medical device or pharmaceutical setting.
  • Attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects and timelines effectively.
  • Quality driven.
  • Experience working in a team environment with representatives from various departments and functions.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of computers and applications.

 

Preferred:                  

  • Familiarity with the medical device industry, FDA regulations, quality systems, and sterilization.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
