Production Supervisor (Entry Level/Training Role)

Your challenge!

The Production Supervisor will have a diverse work load in support of the manufacturing needs of the plant. The successful candidate will collaborate with other departments to assess the plants processes and use their critical thinking skills to trouble-shoot any issues that arise. You will have an opportunity to expand your knowledge as each day varies and be able to contribute to the plants growth and success.

 

While in this development role, you will learn the manufacturing processes and production equipment. You will also be responsible for learning and assisting with health and safety, quality control, lean management & continuous improvement, and various project management objectives. The successful candidate will also have an opportunity to train on workforce management techniques that are based on Cascades’ culture and values.

 

Job Responsibilities

This role reports to the Plant Manager.

  • Assess and evaluate the current production processes and recommend any changes as necessary
  • Drive change initiative and implement process improvements as part of a multi-functional team
  • Lead safety efforts for employees by identifying high-risk situations, conducting safety meetings and coordinating worker safety activities
  • Optimize efficiencies and drive efforts to reduce waste and downtime and increase production availability
  • Effectively manage human and material resources to ensure sound financial performance and achievement of manufacturing efficiency targets
  • Coordinate training efforts for a diverse workforce and have a working knowledge of best practices for training and development

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Process Engineering, Business, or any other relevant field (preferably in pulp/paper)
  • 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing facility

Skills

  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and SAP
  • Results-oriented and the ability to motivate a team to perform at high levels
  • Experience in troubleshooting and process improvement
  • Ability to make good decisions with an innovative approach

Manage and engage his staff based on Cascades’ values and business strategy

Implement the talent development and succession strategy in his sector in collaboration with Human Resources

Help set OSH priorities for his sector in line with corporate objectives and follow up on them
