Process Control Engineer - Fault Detection

Req Id: 121110

Job Title: Technology Development Process Control Engineer – Fault Detection

As a Process Control Engineer, you will be a member of Micron’s Research and Development team responsible for developing, driving, and sharing process and equipment control solutions.  In this position, you will collaborate with IT, equipment automation, data engineering, and data science teams to maintain high quality data processing/storage and data analysis within the Fault Detection (FD) environment.  Utilizing available resources will result in identifying methods of analyzing/monitoring equipment and process conditions and how they may correlate to processing variation, anomalies, and yield; furthering the understanding of variable equipment configurations and associated processes, and increasing collaboration with global teams to align process control solutions and share best known methods.

Specifically, as a Process Control Engineering (PCE) Fault Detection engineer, you will develop specific models to predict future process variation and further improve variation detection capabilities with an end goal of efficiency, equipment & product safety, process variation reduction, and yield improvement.  You will also be responsible for tool data collection enablement, supervision of consistent data collection within each node of the environment as it relates to each processing platform, and health of the Fault Detection system.  Your job responsibilities will also include, but are not limited to, identification of which equipment sensors to collect, definition of data format and packetization, configuration of services for the collection of data, and testing/deployment of new logic.

  • A strong understanding of Statistical Process Control
  • A strong analytical problem-solving and data analysis skills,
  • Experience in statistical modeling of large data sets is a plus
  • The ability to learn quickly and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience developing, teaching, and presenting technical subjects
  • Experience in Process Control Engineering (PCE); Fault Detection and Classification (FDC), Run-to-Run Control (R2R), or Statistical Process Control (SPC) is a plus
  • Knowledge of semiconductor automation interfaces and protocols (i.e. SECS/GEM/EDA) is a plus
  • The ability to extract data from different databases via SQL and other query languages
  • The ability to apply data cleansing, outlier identification, and missing data techniques
  • Excellent oral, written communication, and listening skills
  • The ability to balance multiple critical priorities
  • Proficiency with scripting languages (e.g. JMP, Perl, Python, PHP, R) is a plus
  • Experience in software testing/verification is a plus
  • The ability to travel (may be required at times)
  • General knowledge of semiconductor processes and tools
  • Willingness to research control industry trends and innovation for potential leverage within Micron

A BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field, or an equivalent Micron job standing of Engineer or higher is required.
