The Team Lead will work in a hands-on role in addition to providing guidance to the Clinical Ancillary Information Systems team including, but not limited to the following:

  • Participate in day-to-day execution of advanced level technical activities
  • In conjunction with the manager, provide direction to the team and may also function as a Manager
  • Analysis of user needs and requirements
  • Application installation and testing
  • Application problem resolution
  • Writing user documentation
  • Server maintenance
  • Management report creation
  • Provide training, as appropriate, for new associates
  • Maintain and report statuses for documented issues

General Description:

  • Interface between the departmental users/clients and the various divisions of MIT
  • Provide high-level customer support and service. Mitigate escalations of client incidents and issues for Pathology systems and other applications/solutions provided and/or supported by the LIS team
  • Identify highly complex, non-routine issues and recommends corrective action. Develop solutions for new system requirements. Provide expertise on design and planning, and ensure that appropriate technical designs are implemented
  • Assess issues and provide enhancements to existing systems. Proactively analyze systems to identify potential issues and identify solutions.  Maintain a high level of technical expertise and business knowledge.
  • Supply technical expertise and business systems guidance to manager and team
  • Coordinate modifications and updates to the Beaker and Safetrace systems and other applications/systems provided and/or supported by the LIS team
  • Assist with coordination of vendor activities including hardware and software installation
  • Test new systems, version upgrades, interfaces and other system modifications
  • Provide direction and input for creation of Test plans and scripts
  • Provide feedback on testing outcomes
  • Provide pro-active monitoring of the applications/systems
  • Maintaining accurate and current documentation regarding systems/applications
  • Provide 24 x 7 on-call coverage for user support on a rotating basis
  • Rotational commute/travel throughout all facilities within the Montefiore Medical Center hospitals and other Montefiore clients, as needed
  • Performs other related duties as required





  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field. Experience will be considered in place of a degree
  • Advanced level technical experience
  • Experience leading or mentoring others
  • Prior clinical experience in Pathology and/or 4+ years of LIS IT experience required
  • Understanding of HL7 and other health related standards is a plus
  • Strong demonstrated technical skills (i.e. programming skills)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with customers, vendors, peers, and management
  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations
  • Ability to work with end users, document workflows, and provide various solutions to meet their needs
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Excellent follow up skills
  • Must be adaptable in a rapidly changing environment
  • Must be able to multi-task effectively
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Beaker CP certification is a plus
  • Beaker AP certification is a plus
  • Epic HB or PB experience is a plus
