Hatch is seeking an Engagement Manager in Salt Lake City, UT. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established team of highly skilled and motivated people who deliver innovative and value-added solutions to a diverse range of financial and operating clients. We are looking for a business savvy individual with strong technical aptitude to assist in delivering general advisory services within the mining, metal, process, energy, and infrastructure industries.  Typical assignments include techno-economic due diligence, mergers and acquisition assistance, lender's engineer, asset management, business improvement, cost control, debottlenecking and other advisory services to support investment decisions.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate, lead and/or mentor clients and teams in a dynamic environment to manage and execute project controls, risk management, quality assurance, OR development and document management processes
  • Actively lead and manage client engagements and business development activities
  • Take responsibility for delivering segments of analysis within consulting projects
  • Select and use a variety of business analysis tools and techniques, asset improvement, process optimization and asset management techniques
  • Offer tailor-made services across all project phases, to ensure the client’s project business case is reflected in every plan
  • Support operations beyond the project phase through performance enhancement activities such as reliability and productivity optimization
  • Working closely with Hatch’s Digital Practice to provide technology and solutions to positively transform clients' businesses in the metals, energy and infrastructure sectors
  • Assist in the development of communications (proposals, reports, presentations, etc.)
  • Assist the clients to identify opportunities, create and execute strategy, achieve the expected outcomes, and sustain these outcomes through the development of asset strategies, key performance indicators and performance measures
  • Conduct appropriate audits or surveys to identify corrective or adjustment activities to ensure that improvement outcomes stay in line with the client's business needs
  • Facilitate workshops with clients
  • Report and present material to Hatch and/or clients as to outcomes achieved and future activities required to sustain and continuously improve
  • Identify and engage existing clients to further develop business opportunities
  • Identify and engage new clients to grow the practice
  • Work with team members to continuously improve practice services and capability

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
  • At least five years of relevant experience in mining, metals, energy, or infrastructure.  Specific experience in the mining or metallurgical industry is an asset
  • Proven experience in using research and analysis tools (particularly Microsoft Excel)
  • Ability to work independently and under own initiative, or actively contribute as an effective member of a team
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite of software including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Experience working in a high-energy, deliverable-oriented environment with the ability to multi-task
  • Knowledge of maintenance requirements, maintenance planning, shutdown / turnaround management, maintenance management systems, tools and methodologies such as reliability centered maintenance (RCM) would be considered an asset
  • Experience driving plant improvements such as time, reliability, output, and quality
  • Strong data analytics skills, including experience with business requirements gathering, analysis and ability to translate business requirements into technical process solutions
