Job purpose

The successful candidate will join the Real Estate Department to assist with the maintenance of web-based applications and technology support for various department functions.  Potential projects will range in scope from improving existing applications and processes to creating entirely new systems as required.  Working in a collaborative setting, the role also carries the responsibility of ensuring clients’ needs are met by providing technology support functions.

 

Key Acoountabilities

  • Responsible for the effective and efficient development of technology solutions for the Real Estate Department within Scotiabank, as well as assisting in supporting existing applications
  • The candidate will be involved extensively in technology onboarding, best practices and support throughout the department
  • As a member of the IT team, the candidate will be expected to learn and support existing systems and processes within the department
  • The candidate will also participate in system analysis and design, coding, user acceptance testing, implementation, production support, and documentations on applications assigned.

 

Education/Work experience/Designations

 

  • IT tech support skills with strong knowledge of current technologies
  • Prior development in VB.Net applications
  • Experience with SQL development; proven ability to read and write complex SQL queries
  • Experience using LINQ (.NET Language Integrated Query)
  • Previous exposure to Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server
  • Strong working knowledge of ASP.NET, VB.NET, SQL Server, IIS, HTML, and XML
  • Preference for additional software suite knowledge such as Adobe Products, MS Project, Excel and OneNote.
  • Knowledge of software development life cycle, as well as good documentation skills required.
  • Candidate should be a good communicator who works both well in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Ability to prioritize work and deal with multiple projects or assignments.
  • Knowledge of the financial industry or commercial real estate industry considered an asset.
  • The candidate will also be required to keep current with the latest software trends to assist in keeping the department up to date.
  • College Diploma/University Degree in Computers or related discipline
