Cash Application Specialist


Summary

The cash application specialist is responsible for loading and reconciling the bank lockbox deposit twice per day into the ERP system (Oracle, JDE, etc.). Electronic file loading and manual entries are both required. Data enrichment utilizing the bank web portal is included.

Responsibilities

  • Load and reconcile the bank lockbox files into ERP system – daily.
  • Notify credit Analyst/collectors of significant discrepancies (Short pays, terms, etc.)
  • Communicate/work with Claims, Cash Management, Sales, etc. to reconcile file
  • Process credit card payments in secured portal and application thereof
  • Day one close for EOM financials
  • Record keeping, OnBase, and meeting audit requirements per department standards
  • If time is available, and with suitable training, assist claims resolution process
  • Enter billing corrections, generate credits, and close items in cash app panel
  • Track cash recoveries, and ad hoc reporting as required for MDI board

Critical Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge of GAAP / Debits & Credits
  • Knowledge of SOX guidelines
  • Excellent organizational and analytical abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially with internal stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software – especially Excel.

Education/Training Required

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience
  • 3 to 5 years accounting or related experience
