Scope of Position:To provide mechanical and project management expertise to various areas of the plant in support of daily operations and continuous improvement and cost reductions projects. Apply technical knowledge and practices to effectively accomplish technical assignments and projects. Actively participates within and beyond department boundaries to resolve important equipment and process issues. Enhance manufacturing capabilities through the implementation of new ideas and methods. Support and lead projects to fulfill department goals and objectives in direct support of manufacturing and operations.Day to Day Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of bringing new processes / equipment into production, including preparation of financial justification, specifying, purchasing, as well as tracking all spending related to the project.
  • Establish overall project plans (scope, schedule, cost estimates, project acceptance criteria, and risk management, etc.)
  • Work with vendors to identify replacement/new technology for equipment.
  • Develop maintenance and operator training documentation, conduct equipment qualification and initial training of production personnel.
  • Formally document all aspects of the project to ensure all documentation for projects are completed such as Drawings, Spare Parts, Procedures, PM's, and Calibration.
  • Provide engineering support during equipment development, develop plans as to how the equipment/processes will be employed into production and ensure that the new technology is repeatable in a production environment prior to transfer.
  • Work directly with engineering and maintenance in fixing and resolving mechanical and electrical equipment issues.
  • Prepare cost justifications and capital requests for any new process improvements or new equipment purchases.
  • Work with outside contractors to repair and install equipment.
  • Work with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering to develop/design and implement processes, equipment or safety improvements into manufacturing.
  • Experimentation understanding and some experience; planning, executing and data/statistical analysis

Role Within Group: You will be working closely with operations management, functional leaders and plant & division engineers.

Travel Requirements: You can expect less than 10% travel.

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: Your typical work schedule will be 8-5pm M-F although you should be able to respond to off-hours calls to resolve manufacturing process upsets or plant systems downtime events. Some weekend hours are required to support production needs.

Required Education and Experience:

You should have a BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree with focus on mechanical engineering as well as having :

  • Minimum 5+ years of manufacturing, design and project management experience
  • Track record of project management accomplishments
  • Technical curiosity that will enable unique solutions to the problem.
  • Sound troubleshooting, problem solving and decision-making processes and skills.
  • Project Leadership experience
  • Experience with Solidworks and AutoCAD design software; Ability to interpret prints
  • Fundamental understanding of the process and materials to enable the development of cost effective products and machine systems.
  • Ability to effectively manage external machine builders, system integrators, and outside contractors for detail design, build and installation of machine system
  • Ability to work in a team based environment as well as individually.
