Position Summary:

This is an entry level position with potential for growth and learning in the Midland organization. Expectations are for coverage of QA Lab responsibilities in support of production. This position will have high visibility with shop floor personnel, focus factory management and engineering functions.

 

Essential Functions:

 

Work Safely and without injury

Interpret engineering and technical drawings and verify requirements as applicable to production / PPAP parts. Communicate the results to the appropriate people in support of Midland Mfg. production.

Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing process capabilities

Recommend and specify gauging and calibration needs.

Confer with Midland Mfg. personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.

 

Required Education and/or Experience:

 

1 – 5 years experience in a quality role.

Experience operating and basic/intermediate level programming using PCDMIS is required.

High School/ GED and/or college diploma is preferred

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Ability to use calipers, plug & thread gages, micrometers and other quality instruments for the inspection of complex parts.

General knowledge and experience with operating CMM and basic/intermediate level programming of CMM using PCDMIS is required.

Must understand the PPAP process and how to use it as a statistical process tool.

Highly motivated to develop current and learn new skills essential to functions of the job.

Must be a self-starter and know how to take initiative.

Must be detail-oriented in regard to inspection and documentation.

Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Willing to offer opinions and direction.

Knowledgeable in machining processes.

Must be able to convey technical information effectively to other group members.

Must be a team player and possess active listening skills

 

 

Language Skills and Mathematical Skills:

 

Ability to read, write, verbalize and comprehend instructions and correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to other team members. Conflict resolution.  Good interpersonal skills.  Must have mathematical skills equivalent to those required with a high school diploma

 

Physical and Visual Activities:

 

Standing, Walking, Sitting, Lifting, Carrying, Balancing, Stooping, Reaching, Handling, Feeling, Talking, Hearing, Acuity-Far, Acuity-Near, Depth Perception, and Field of Vision.

 

Physical Demands:

 

May require a combination of sitting, standing, and walking.  May require lifting up to 50 pounds. 

 

Environment/Atmospheric Conditions:

 

This position is performed in an office environment.  May be necessary to work in a shop environment as job duties require.  May be exposed to loud operating machinery, cold temperatures, chemicals, and vapors.

 

Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software:

 

Personal computer, CMM, CNC machines, fax machine, copy machine, other office equipment, Microsoft Office.
