The Manager, Strategic Initiatives role will report to the Materials Technologies Business President and will be an integral part of the leadership team.  This role’s primary focus will be on achieving business results; to drive acceleration and focus on the business side of capital project success globally, to proactively partner on business development/merger and acquisition (M&A) opportunities and integration and to lead large global implementation projects for the business unit.

This role will have a long-term perspective ensuring that their project’s goals align with the business unit’s strategic mission and objectives.

  • Lead critical, large-scale projects that contribute to the business unit’s success. These projects represent opportunities for the organization to accelerate growth, expand capacity, develop new products, troubleshoot problems/processes or launch initiatives designed to reduce operational costs, defects or waste.
  • Collaborate with other managers and business leaders
  • Analyze the project portfolio to ensure that work aligns to strategic decisions.  By evaluating project flow, publishing reports and conducting review meetings to keep projects on track, it enables the organization to prioritize its work.  This results in tangible business value to the entire company.
  • Ensures that the company has the best personnel to complete job tasks. Facilitating the efficient use of resources across multiple functions and monitor trends to ensure use aligns with strategic goals.
  • Enable cost savings by reducing delays due to lack of resources.
  • Facilitate meetings with sponsors and stakeholders to identify project requirements and ensure they align with the business unit’s strategic goals.
  • Effectively leverage tools and techniques used by the organization to manage projects to ensure data integrity, assure scheduling accuracy and maintain consistency.

Required Experience

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university
  • 15 years’ experience in strategic commercial business, corporate business development, capital development, finance, plant operations or large scale global implementation projects in the manufacturing industry. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters or MBA a plus
  • Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or related field is a plus
  • Knowledge of the chemical industry in coatings, consumer, industrial, pharma, personal care, petrochemical and/or adsorbents segments
  • International business experience
